Expressing Plans​

  • Use werden + infinitive to talk about the future:
    Ich werde morgen arbeiten. (I will work tomorrow.)
  • Use werden to express planned actions, often combined with time expressions (morgen, nächste Woche).
  • Use vorhaben + zu + infinitive to express plans or intentions:
    Ich habe vor, Deutsch zu lernen. (I plan to learn German.)
  • Planen + zu + infinitive is also common:
    Wir planen, eine Reise zu machen. (We plan to take a trip.)

Expressing Wishes and Desires​

  • Use möchten (modal verb) for polite wishes:
    Ich möchte ein Eis. (I would like an ice cream.)
  • Use wollen to express stronger wishes or desires:
    Ich will mehr Freizeit. (I want more free time.)
  • Use wünschen + Dativ + Akkusativ for wishing someone something:
    Ich wünsche dir viel Erfolg. (I wish you much success.)
  • Use träumen von + Dativ to express dreams or hopes:
    Sie träumt von einem Haus. (She dreams of a house.)
  • Use hoffen auf + Akkusativ to talk about hoping for something:
